Get messy and Get Creative With Our Art Supplies
School holidays are the perfect time to start a project, spread out, get creative, and get messy! We have just about everything you need to make a creative colorful mess: aprons, crayons, paint brushes, and pencil cases. Even Messy Essie herself delivered us a great range of colorful aprons, splat mats, pencil cases, and bibs designed to make all your packing up as easy as hosing down!
The oil cloth splat mats are ideal for painting (and play dough, and meal time and nappy free time and any messy time!) with eco paints. Eco paint is a powder based paint handmade with flour, organic fruit, seaweed and coloured with natural plant and vegetable extracts.
Snack time is easy when clean up is rinsing a lusciously colorful oilcloth bib! These bibs roll up nicely to fit in your bag for meals out too.
Don't forget we always have in the excellent quality Stockmar, and Lyra paints...
... and the amazing range of individual Lyra pencils. You can even pick up a colorful handmade pencil roll to keep them safe. We have lots of designs to choose from.
So don't spend another minute putting off some artistic expression time. Visit today and stock up on some fresh supplies for the new year!

Crochet Christmas Star Garlands
Things are getting festive in the shop and we've decked our halls with these homemade crochet star garlands.
They're each around 100 - 115cm long and each star is 12cm wide and we have various combinations of festive reds, greens and sparkly snow white.
These garlands would look wonderful strung across a mantle, door or bookshelf. Pop in and pick one up for your home - or grab some of our yarn and make your own!
We've also stocked our shelves with an adorable range of knitted and felt decorations for you to choose from.

it's the details!
.... it's the finer points in life that i really appreciate!
I am lucky enough to know some very talented crafty folk who take great pride and love with their wares, and do you know?... the treasures that they make are so admired that they sell really quickly.
It's heartening to think that we still seek out the lovingly hand-made!
the gallant knights have their staffs ready to defend against the dragon!
... even the dolly's shoes have an extra flourish!
this little birthday crown is just sparkling!
and the illustrations of the amazing Elsa Beskow!!!! i mean look at that little kitten in the corner!
this photo doesn't show the best bits of these donkeys...they all have little swishy tails!!!

book book BOOOOK! review
Chicken Butt's Back!
Unless you have a child with highly sophisticated humor you might not know the world's funniest joke: "Q: What's up? A: Chicken Butt"
Its funny, right? Well, maybe not to all of us - but its right at my level of humor, so i really enjoyed "Chicken Butt's Back!" and i may have giggled like a 5 year old the whole way through.
Having not read the original "Chicken Butt" book i can only imagine the torture that the mum in the story has been through. The fun illustrations by Henry Cole really capture that world-weary expression we see on so many faces around the supermarket.
The simple Dr-Seuss-esque rhyming verse is ideal for early readers and as much as we might hate the toilet humour - you can't deny the kiddos love it. And a funny book is a book that will be read and read and read again! So i give this silly, fun and ultimately heartwarming story book 10 butts out of 10.
